Cool Gift Ideas Can You Make For Under 5 Dollars?
62Gift ideas under $5 are easy if you have a little time to make them yourself. Your family and friends will be delighted when they receive a Christmas gift, birthday present or a fun Easter gift from you, especially when you make it with love. Gift giving does not need to be expensive.
Shortbread Cookies
If you love to cook, make some Christmas cookies and wrap them in pretty Christmas gift paper. Some cellophane will also do. Shortbread is always a good gift for those who have everything, or for that special someone as a little extra gift. A tin of good quality shortbread cookies are expensive to buy but they are very cheap and easy to make. You can cut the cookies into any shape imaginable. A batch of three dozen homemade cookies can be baked for under $5!
Chocolate-Coated Spoons
Chocolate always makes a terrific gift. Go to the supermarket or your favorite dollar store and purchase a pack of plastic spoons. Melt some chocolate, one bowl of white, and the other bowl dark. When the chocolate is melted thoroughly, turn off the heat and allow to cool, but making sure the chocolate does not reset. While the chocolate is still very warm, dip the plastic spoon heads into the chocolate and pull them out slowly to drip off the excess. Place them to dry on a cookie sheet, then bunch into sets of five with an elastic band and a piece of ribbon. These make delightful hostess gifts, extra Christmas gifts, and are especially suitable for Easter gift giving.
Wine Glasses
Wine glasses
are good, cheap gifts. You can buy a pair of wine glasses and some crafting
paint and design pretty motifs on each of them. No two will ever be alike, and
you can personalize the designs for each of your friends. These also make great
hostess gifts or gifts for the Bride and Groom. Plastic wine glasses are durable and good for those BBQ months of the year.
Decorated Mittens and Beanies
Mittens or gloves and beanie sets can be bought in most dollar stores or large retail outlets this time of year for under $3. I purchases two sets for $3 recently in Wal-Mart. Buy some puff paint from the crafting section and paint initials on them. These are excellent personalized gift ideas for kids as well as adults. There is no limit to the number of designs you can come up with!
Leather-Bound Books
For anyone who loves books, a bundle of old leather-bound books makes the perfect bookcase addition. Old books just look great, and any bookworm will tell you they smell good too. People who love to decorate their homes often use a stack of three or four books to sit on the coffee table with a candle or vase on top. Shop at yard sales for old leather-bound books. You will probably always get a good deal because books are usually the last thing to sell. Beautiful old books can be bought for as little as 25c each.
Christmas is not the only wonderful time of the year to give presents. Gift giving is fun at any time and especially nice when presents can be made rather than purchased. With a little effort and almost no crafting talent necessary, you can come up with the perfect gift ideas under $5 for family, friends and co-workers.
