Alcohol Self Help: Alcohol Dependency - Part Two
62Self help for weight loss and depression doesn’t always cover every problem that one may need to address. Addiction self help may also be in order, or a self assessment to begin with, if you’ve found your psychological disorders are getting way out of hand. Coping with panic attacks is not possible if you’re been drinking on a regular basis, and if you’re looking for self help for depression, the only way you will begin to help yourself is to throw the booze away first because it is guaranteed to reverse every remedy you try.
I don’t know that I ever qualified as an ‘addict’ if we wish to examine the word in the usual sense. I know it took some time to become used to not tipping a little one most days, and I can happily enjoy a glass or three of Chardonnay every couple of weeks now, and could care less about looking at it again until whenever. However, if someone with no disorders can become addicted, then the chances of someone in a poor mental state becoming addicted is probably two fold, at least. I also say that without scientific proof to back up what I typed, however, since genetics also play a huge role in addiction, you may have more than one variable working against you to begin with.
If you don’t have someone in your life to support you, or that someone you have also drinks a lot, get out of that relationship now. If you have been drinking enough that you need to ask yourself if you might be addicted, you already know what to do, and don’t need to get a second opinion. The more people you keep around you who enable you to keep working toward self destruction, the faster you will achieve that goal, with honors.
Our small country town doctor, who of course, knew everything that went on around the place, of a medical nature or not, once gave me the best one line of advice I have ever heard, and his words resonate with me to this day almost nine years later; it was “if you can’t change the situation, remove you from said situation, period”. Mike turned out to be the first person who had a hand in saving my life, the bulk of the thanks though, I can attribute to my husband and children who smother me with love, who always make me feel good about myself, and who taught me, without speaking a single word, that I can achieve anything I set my mind to
Please note that these techniques will not be effective if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs not prescribed for you. Some prescribed drugs can also render these techniques ineffective if they are prone to cause drowsiness. In this case, you should attempt self hypnosis in the morning, or in the evening prior to taking your medicine.
